The Justin Ebner Memorial In-House tournament serves as a tune up tournament for all of our Bay to Bay teams as we prepare for the two travel tournaments that cap off our Summer season (SoCal Cup and the AAU National Championship). This tournament utilizes a time based “round” format and is more about training than it is about competition.
If you would like to learn more about Bay to Bay alum Justin Ebner visit www.justinebner.com or donate to the scholarship fund in his name by visiting this link.
Format
- Time based rounds: each round of the tournament is 50 minutes and starts at the top of the hour. This means that our tournament will always be on time and we will never be waiting for another match to end to start the next one (as is commonplace at true tournaments).
- Compete across age groups: in the tournament schedule, you will see that teams will compete above and below their age groups. Our eldest teams will even compete against our local pro teams: Bay Area Dimes and the coaching staff.
- Reffing assignments: during the in-house tournament, teams will also have reffing assignments (just as they will during our travel tournaments). Coaches will help assign players to a role for each set (down ref, line judge, score keeper).
- If your match does not have a reffing team, coaches of the two competing teams are in charge of keeping score and the teams will “call their own” (i.e. call their own nets, if the ball was in or out, etc)
