In this article we answer the question, “What are Foundation Practices and how do i know if i should attend?“

What are Foundation Practices?

Purpose: Foundation practices are a series of skill and position clinics run by our Bay to Bay Lead Coaches at the start of the Fall and Summer season. These Foundation Practices act as an onboarding process for new and returning Bay to Bay athletes.

Volleyball Focus: The practices cover a variety of skill and position specific training methods that are used at Bay to Bay. This helps athletes become more familiar with some specific verbiage that they will hear from their coaches and the Bay to Bay staff.

Culture Focus: These practices also act as an opportunity for our staff to set clear expectations about how Bay to Bay players are expected to act and some of the culture specific skills we use within the club, for example:

Who attends Foundation Practices?

Foundation Practices are for all current Bay to Bay Travel Team athletes. If you accept a spot on a Bay to Bay Travel Team (for example: 18-1, 16-Premier, 13-Summer, etc.) then you should attend Foundation Practice regardless of your position!

Foundation Practices are split by age group (14 & younger and 15 & older) so that all athletes on all teams are able to attend. These athletes are grouped onto the proper net heights and are more evenly matched within their age and grade level.
