Get the low down on one of the “secret weapons” at Bay to Bay Volleyball Club.

What are Skills Practices?

Skills practices are weekly position specific practices that are designed to supplement our weekly team training during the Fall portion of the season (August - January). The breakdown of practices is as follows:

Who can attend Skills Practices?

Bay to Bay Travel Team Members: In the Fall, members of Bay to Bay Travel Teams are able to attend 1 skills practice a week for free with their club membership (there are no skills practices in the Summer since teams are practicing 4-5 days a week). Athletes are given a coupon code in their onboarding email to register for a “Skills Practice Plan” which gives them 12 session credits for free.

You can easily sign up for any of our skills practice sessions using the Bay to Bay app (Download the iOS app) or on our website (Register for a clinic)

Unaffiliated Athletes: Starting in the Fall of 2023, we will be opening up additional skills practice sessions that are open to all athletes (regardless of club affiliation). Unaffiliated athletes can register for skills practices one at a time or purchase a discounted “Skills Practice Plan” from our website.

Each week there are three sessions that are designated “Travel Team Only” and there are three skills practice sessions that are open to any and all athletes, for example:

Timeslot Tuesday Wednesday Thursday
4-5 pm (Open to all athletes) Small Group Sessions (Open to All) Small Group Sessions (Open to All) Small Group Sessions (Open to All)
5:30-7:30 pm (Travel Teams Only) Pin Hitters (Travel Team Only) Setters (Travel Team Only) Middles/Liberos (Travel Team Only)
7:30-9:30 pm (Open to all athletes) Pin Hitters (Open to All) Setters (Open to All) Middles/Liberos (Open to All)

How many people can attend skills practices?

We limit skills practices to have no more than 60 athletes at a time to ensure ideal ratio of players per coach and per court.

Is there a waitlist?

When a skills practice reaches maximum capacity (which they often do) you are able to add your name onto a waitlist to join the session if a spot becomes available. If an opening becomes available we will send you a push notification (or email if you are not on the Bay to Bay app) and you will have 30 minutes to accept the opening or it will be passed to the next person on the waitlist.
